Racially, physically and sexually assaulted by staff and guests

Alima and her family had a deeply distressing experience at the hotel, beginning with a rude and hostile reception. Staff behavior was openly discriminatory, including racial slurs directed at guests of South Asian descent. The check-in process was chaotic and appeared deceptive, with conflicting tourist tax charges in different currencies. From the outset, it was evident that guests of color were treated with less respect and care compared to white guests.

The group encountered severe hygiene issues in their rooms — sand on the floors, used towels, unclean bathrooms, and a lack of basic bedding. Requests for cleaning were delayed or ignored altogether, and disparities in room service appeared racially motivated. More gravely, a member of Alima’s group was sexually assaulted by another hotel guest, and multiple families came forward with similar accounts involving the same man. Despite these serious allegations, hotel management dismissed the claims, failed to notify authorities, and later stated that police were not permitted on the premises. Management also denied the existence of CCTV footage.

In another incident, Alima’s family was racially assaulted by another guest who physically attacked them and used violent slurs. Despite video evidence and corroboration from witnesses, the hotel sided with the perpetrator and labeled Alima’s family as “aggressive.” Security throughout the hotel was ineffective, the pool area posed safety risks due to inattentive lifeguards, and the buffet was unsanitary, with flies and reused food. Alima strongly warns other travelers — especially people of color — to avoid this hotel due to its unsafe, discriminatory, and unhygienic environment.
