While staying at the Langkawi Seaview Hotel in Kuah, Malaysia, travel vloggers Ryan and Stacia from DeathbyVlog experienced a distressing theft that cut their trip short. Upon arrival, the hotel conditions were far from the appealing photos online — the room was infested with insects, plagued by mold, and poorly maintained. They had chosen the hotel based on promises of strong Wi-Fi and recent renovations, but the reality was disappointing from the start.
The situation escalated when, during breakfast in the hotel’s dining area, their housekeeper entered their room without permission. She rifled through their belongings and stole $350 USD from Stacia’s wallet. Ryan’s personal items were also disturbed. The couple was shocked, especially given the warmth they had otherwise experienced in Malaysia. When they reported the incident, the hotel refused to offer a refund for the remainder of their stay, leading them to leave Langkawi earlier than planned.
Their experience is detailed in a video they made to warn others about what they now call “the worst hotel in Malaysia.” While deeply upset by the incident, Ryan and Stacia emphasize that this was an isolated event in an otherwise welcoming country — and they hope that by sharing their story, other travelers can avoid similar misfortunes.
