A RESORT EMPLOYEE PUT A DATE-RAPE DRUG IN MY DRINK

Rebekah and her friend traveled to a resort in Puerto Plata expecting a relaxing vacation, but quickly encountered persistent harassment from male staff. They were followed to their room one night and had to call security, and throughout their stay, male employees repeatedly asked invasive questions like “Are you traveling alone?” and “Where are you staying?” Despite attempts to distance themselves, the behavior escalated, making them feel unsafe and targeted. Rebekah emphasizes that the harassment came directly from resort employees, not random guests.

The situation became critical on their last evening, when Rebekah was drugged by a resort staff member. After ordering a drink while lying on a beach bed, she blacked out for 11 hours. Her friend witnessed her physical state rapidly decline—Rebekah turned red and blotchy, slurred her speech, and could barely walk. Back in their room, her breathing slowed dangerously, and she remained unresponsive for hours, later vomiting and waking with severe nausea, confusion, and extreme weakness. She couldn’t even perform basic tasks like opening a fridge or pressing a soap dispenser. It took nearly two full days for her to recover physically, and the emotional toll was just as severe.

Rebekah urges women not to stay at this resort, warning that it is not a safe environment for female travelers. While the resort is marketed as luxurious, she found it misleading and dangerous. She credits her friend’s presence for preventing something worse from happening and hopes her story can help others avoid a similarly traumatic experience.
